Purpose of This Ceiling Paint Calculator

This calculator helps you estimate how much paint you need to cover your ceiling accurately, taking into account ceiling dimensions, additional openings, and the number of coats you plan to apply.

How to Use the Calculator

1. Measure Your Ceiling:

• Measure the length and width of your ceiling in feet.
• For irregular or L-shaped ceilings, break the area into smaller rectangles and measure each section.

2. Enter the Dimensions:

• Input the length and width of your ceiling in the calculator fields.
• If you have multiple ceiling sections, repeat the process for each section.

3. Select Number of Coats:

• Choose the number of coats you plan to apply (1–4 coats).
• Keep in mind that additional coats will increase the total paint required.

4. Calculate:

• Click the Calculate button.
• The calculator will display:
  • Total ceiling area
  • Paintable area after subtracting openings
  • Estimated gallons of paint required for the selected number of coats

5. Tips:

• One gallon of paint typically covers ~400 sq ft per coat.
• Round up to ensure you have enough paint for touch-ups or errors.
• Always check your paint can for manufacturer-specific coverage.
